UntitledOHHHH wow.  These are some tempting snacks.  I mean look at that bag, baby.   Deep Dish Pizza?  Bring it on!

Herr’s is a relative new kid on the block, as I only remember seeing them in the last year or so.  Maybe they have been around forever.  What I do know is they step their game up with ideas like this.

They taste like you might expect – cheese, a slight tomato, and some Italian herb…..highly snackable!

UntitledLOOK at those babies!   They almost GLOW in the dark!

I found them at Dollar General, but I am also seeing them pop up in other places so give them a try and comment below how you like them!

For me it’s always been about the Slush Puppie.

I know they make ICEE and SLURPEE  and Sonic has their SLUSH …and I enjoy them all…but the others just don’t have that fun factor for me like the SLUSH PUPPIE.

Unfortunately you can’t never…and I mean EVER find an original Slush Puppie in any local store around these parts.   It’s frustrating.

Even MORE frustrating is that SLUSH PUPPIE has licensed the name to all these freezer treats so I get reminded I can’t have the original with a product that tastes like I can’t have the original.

ENTER Slush Puppie Pouches.    These are like a Capri Sun package and you throw them into the freezer.  In a few hours….PRESTO!!!  you get a slush that you can squeeze out the twist of top or just tear open the bag and pour it out into a cup.

I chose the latter and here is how things looked.  It was very hard and was like more of a frozen sno-cone than slush.    The flavor was good and you get quite a bit from the pouch.

I found these at Albertson’s by the way.   They have this great “Dollar Aisle” where I fine all sorts of unique and interesting things to try.   That dollar aisle is also just about the only location around here that carries any type of SHASTA soda on the reg.     And who doesn’t love SHASTA?

But I digress….

Being slightly unhappy with the texture I decided to improvise.   I splashed some ice water in there.   Not to change the temperature – but to change the consistency.

As you can see here, it worked and I got more of an overall slush effect.   I was finally satisfied and my tongue has been electric blue ever since.

Still not quite the same as the Slush Puppie I grew up with – but it will do in a pinch.

T.G.I. Friday’s Mozzeralla Sticks Snack Chips

27 Jan

T.G.I. Friday’s has done an incredible job of marketing their products to consumers.   All of my local grocers have frozen food sections filled with what seems like half the restaurants menu available in frozen form.   Wings, dips, potato skins….seeing all those reminds me that I might not ever need to visit the real restaurants again.   The snack food aisle is also brimming with choices.  Like today’s Mozzarella Sticks.   They are basically mozzarella flavored cheese-puffs.   This is fantastic-ly clever.  They even have a light dusting/coloring that is brown… so the outside looks like a fried mozzarella stick.  Clever guys, clever.  When you bite into them you can see they are a pale-ish yellow, so they really do sell the whole (good lord am I  tired of typing the word mozzarella) cheese-stick experience.  I mean look at those.  At first blush  you might mistake them for lightly fried sticks of cheese.   Ok maybe not.  They do have a nice taste to them and you can burn through these faster than your would an actual order from the restaurant.  Cheaper too.   A big ol’ bag of  these were …… 1.00 at Dollar Tree.   So if I was hosting a Superbowl Party, there would be a gianormous bowl of these for the gang.  To me…they did have a slight after taste.  I couldn’t decide if that was me or if they have a “smoked” mozz flavor.  I am not a big smoked mozz guy…so I am thinking it was me.  But hell…for a dollar ….splurge.   Dollar Tree also carries all the other T.G.I.Friday’s chips so load up and try’em all!
