I get a faint hint of that sugary-sweetness that tastes maybe like frosting?

Yeah, I am kinda certain that is some type of “frosting” flavor  I am tasting here.

Besides that, these are your basic plain M&M’s.

That frosting is hardly enough of an incentive for me to buy these again.   More of a novelty really.  Maybe if it’s someone’s b-day you buy these instead of a cake…you know…to really let them know how cheap you are?

Birthday cake must be the newest en vogue flavor; I’m pretty sure Oreo and Poptart are doing it as well. When I saw birthday cake m&ms I just rolled my eyes. It doesn’t even sound good.

yep. it’s like all the heads of the companies sit in a room and go “we are all going Birthday Cake in the fall and Xtreme Sour the following spring. Adjust colors and packaging accordingly.”
