TASTE TEST: Lay’s Kettle BBQ chips

17 Aug

We have talked about this before.   People’s taste are evolving.  We want crunchier-tastier-bolder flavors-and all the rest.

So these chip companies are cranking out new chip ideas faster than I can eat them.

These new Kettle Cooked Lay’s Applewood Smoked BBQ chips are on the plate today.

I love the hard crunch of kettle style chips.   They are usually also a loud crunch that annoys people around me.  They look at me and wonder how I can be so loud with a food product.   I enjoy it.

So when I saw these at my local sammich shop, I was immediately interested.  Hard Crunch and BBQ.  I love’s me a good BBQ anything really.   But BBQ chips are almost always awesome.

I say ALMOST because these were– not so great.   They had the crunch I like for sure.   I wonder if to trip the 40% less fat as labeled, they had to trip taste.  Because other than the color, I couldn’t taste much BBQ flavoring at all.

They seemed rather bland and just crunchy.   Meh.

I actually liked them better than other BBQ chips which seem over flavored.

See? That’s what this is all about! Tastebuds are wonderful because we all taste things differently. I love it!
